Preventative Dentistry

How Can You Avoid Gum Problems and Keep Your Smile Shining?

Gum problems might not sound as scary as a root canal, but they can silently creep up and wreak havoc on your smile if left unchecked. Preventative dentistry, including the mighty branch of periodontics, offers a treasure trove of tools to keep your gums and teeth healthy.

Plaque & Gingivitis: The Sneaky Smile Stealers

Plaque, that sticky film on your teeth, is constantly forming, harboring nasty bacteria that can irritate your gums, leading to gingivitis – the redness, swelling, and occasional bleeding we all dread. Regular brushing and flossing are your frontline soldiers, effectively wiping out the plaque army before it can cause trouble.

Periodontics: The Gum Guardians

For advanced gum issues, periodontists, the gum specialists, step in. Deep cleanings, called scaling and root planing, remove bacteria lurking deep in the pockets between your teeth and gums.

In some cases, gum surgery might be necessary to repair damaged tissue and stabilise teeth.

But remember, with early intervention and proper care, even the most stubborn gum problems can be tackled and reversed!

Your Smile’s Secret Weapon

Preventative dentistry goes beyond just brushing and flossing. Regular dental checkups are essential for early detection of gum problems. We perform cleanings, removing stubborn plaque and tartar that brushing alone can’t reach. Remember: A healthy smile starts with healthy gums.

Private Health Insurance

We welcome patients with any health fund cover and will endeavour to assist them with any health fund claiming concerns as much as practical.

Some health funds have Preferred Provider Schemes whereby the ‘preferred provider’ dentist joins the scheme and agrees to abide by health fund rules regarding treatment and fees. In return the health fund places the dentist on their list of ‘Preferred Providers’ and directs patients to the dentist.

Our commitment to you is to provide best practice dental treatment. We believe that being a preferred provider would restrict our independence and limit our ability to provide best practice dentistry. We value our independence and choose not to be a preferred provider for any health fund. Please feel free to talk to us about your oral health care, our fees and your health fund.
